You shouldn't go on the rapids if you can't eskimo roll, and you obviously need a closed kayak to do that.

This video is beautiful! I don’t know when studies came out, but actually seems to be a lot of evidence that a mid or forefoot strike is not more beneficial than a heel strike. (2:55) I also think shin splints are caused by forefoot and not heel. But I am also just a 23 year old who runs 20 miles a week if I’m lucky hahaha. Your cinematography and attention to detail are incredible, fun video to watch and gonna try the cadence trick!

Try barefoot walking and then light running. Remember to spread the toes. Maybe the inner side of your foot has become weakened as a result. Do you have a strong arch on that foot? I have had something similar on one of my legs. Can't be sure which toe I broke, but I have broken at least one, lol. Muscle tension in that calf can be an issue exaggerating it as well

Its one month after my toe incident on my right foot. Its getting better each week...but not to start running. Well in my mind i was playing with idea of trying to go for it and see where it will take me and how much pain will surface. After finishing your video i will wait a month to let it properly heal. In the mean time other workouts will be on my list. I wish you recover soon.

Ooh I had that injury. I fixed it quite easily with a specific stretch, because that tendon that attaches to the knee goes and attaches around your ass. I think it's because I bike A LOT and sit A LOT, that tendon shortens, and it hurts at its weakest point. The attachment at your ass/hip is so large compared to the attachment at the knee. So if you stretch it at "the ass" so to speak, it lengthens and is long enough to not get fatigued at the knee. This injury is one of those, if you don't know how to solve it, it will completely fuck your running and end your career. But it can be fixed in DAYS with a simple stretch and rest. Like you I went with this injury for like 6 months until I found a video explaining the specific stretch. I would go out for a run feeling 100% at the start and always 1-2km into it I'm in so much pain I can barely walk down a hill.

bro ive had IT band issue in my left knee for 2 months+ now. Ramped up training way too quick after one big run. Have not been able to run since. This video spoke out to me. Like you said, when i'm able to run again, my number one priority will be to not get injured. Not being able to run at all sucks way more than not pushing yourself

I'm probably late to the party but, you have medial heel whip on your left leg which can be observed when you're running towards the camera in slow mo. may be coming from your hip imbalances or other issues. You also cross midline when landing on that same left foot, maybe you're hip lateral abductors aren't strong enough to eccentrically control you hips. So mobilizing is good for the hip joint itself, but as far as musculature i think you need strengthening of your hips in this case, which is probably why you're not gaining any ground with stretching. Your lateral hip abductors are probably too "loose" and weak and hip medial adductors are too tight and overpowering your other muscles, (as well as some other imbalances). Either way you should probably check with a physical therapist to perform a gait analysis and provide recommendations to avoid future injury and correct you're running form.

This is hilarious, .. I appreciate the video style. Also kind of reminds me of my experimental self. I also have a tendency to overdue and get overtrained. Nursing some tendinitis form rock climbing at the moment. Amped on building up my trail running and considering building swimming as well. I think this video has motivated me to hit some open lake water for the rest of the summer.

Prior to my first LD, I’ve had at least three dreams where I could fly down to a lower level. The last one, a few weeks ago, I told myself “hey, you know you can fly” and did so. A week later I had the LD. I was walking out to my car and two men were stripping it down. One had a tire iron and the other had a crowbar. At that point I realized it was a dream, and I used telekinesis to move one of the men away from the car and crash into the side of a dumpster. Then I did the same to the other man. I thought about moving them into the dumpster with my mind, but then thought “what if it doesn’t happen?” Then I woke up.

i do sports quite often, but not structured and when i do it, mostly a tad too hard. a couple weeks back i have decided to do my first ironman next year. for that i am using a structured workout (computer generated, rebalances regularly). didnt think much of it first but the longer im doing it, the more convinced i am. the computer program gives me many but quite light workouts. its taking care a lot of base and build phases. currently i am still in base. to stay healthy i think its good to follow a plan and not doing it like you feel that day. overtraining is a real thing and quite dangerous. so i am glad that this program takes care of that and gives me the right loads every day. myself i would overdo it. i hope you will have a good recovery soon. take care of your health and good luck!!

The more years I log as a runner, I've decided that the truly impressive feat for most runners is not powering through adversity, but knowing when to scale back. I'm currently having to scale back my daily distance significantly due to a foot niggle after a dense training block. These days of tracking watches and Strava, it's a little bit of a gut check to the ego, but much needed.

I had the exact same injury in the location. I bought a racing bike a few years ago and the pedal stands was too narrow for me, I go to the gym and Squate so I have quite a wide stance. Anyway, this forced my legs to point inward and resulted in the injury in the exact same point that you pointed to. I have given up cycling for a few years now. I’m back running since Christmas. I feel great. It was a long time off any leg workout I can run no problem. Long distances but I won’t touch the bike again.

There is a Taoist story of an old farmer who had worked his crops for many years. One day his horse ran away. Upon hearing the news, his neighbors came to visit. “Such bad luck,” they said sympathetically. “Maybe,” the farmer replied. The next morning the horse returned, bringing with it three other wild horses. “How wonderful,” the neighbors exclaimed. “Maybe,” replied the old man. The following day, his son tried to ride one of the untamed horses, was thrown, and broke his leg. The neighbors again came to offer their sympathy on his misfortune. “Maybe,” answered the farmer. The day after, military officials came to the village to draft young men into the army. Seeing that the son’s leg was broken, they passed him by. The neighbours congratulated the farmer on how well things had turned out. “Maybe,” said the farmer.
